Tūrepo 4 at Ashgrove School out here in Rangiora, North Canterbury

Image
This is our Ashgrove School mural that was painted at the main entrance of Ashgrove School. Students within school were able to collaborate with their peers to create images/paintings for the mural.  This is my class. On this day we had a few away so I will take another one when we have everyone. We have loved the 1st chpt of The Children of the Rush so far and am looking forward to carrying on with the story.  I am Mrs Cherry and have been a year 7&8 in the Turepo Team for over 12 years. There are 30 year 7 & 8s in the class and in our Tūrepo Hub there are 4 classes in total. We look forward to hear from you and working in collaboration on the Children of the Rush.                                                                           ...

Kia Ora everyone!! My wonderful class Tūrepo 2 from Ashgrove School are yet to post our class photo (we were waiting for a sunny day lol).  This is our Friday task!!  While all of our Year 8 students were at Technology today our lovely Year 7 students in all four Year 7/8 classes got together this morning to participate in a zoom chat with James Russel!! How lucky were we!! Such an amazing opportunity, and based on his answers he inspired all the writers in us (watch our blog related to this).   Key quote {"the MAGIC happens when we re-write/re-work out stories)

Hey #NZreadaloud team! Welcome to Blog 2. Message from Kerri: We are using Blogger again this term in the hope it becomes a bit more interactive than previous terms.  With our 'go-to' platform Edmodo closing down, we need to find another place for our students to participate in critical literary discussions and I think Blogger has the potential to be used in a similar way. Incorporate blog reading and replying into your programme. Teach your students HOW to end their post with a question to encourage others to come in and reply. This is all great literacy learning and it is this dialogic discussion between students that we want to encourage. The blog is also a space for you and your class to share any learning they are doing during the reading of our Term 1 book. This could be photos of their sketch-noting, predictions and / or connections they are making, questions they want to put to others, words and language features they have investigated or research they have done.
